Welcome To Just BE Farm!

Well, here we are at the beginning of yet another new adventure.....this blog!

Today is the second anniversary of our commitment to share our lives together, and wow what an exciting and rewarding two years it has been.  We are kindred souls in our passion to be busy and constructive.  We have managed to pack quite a bit into that brief period of time.

We started our relationship in a standard issue subdivision house with a fenced in backyard and three dogs. Little did we imagine where our adventures together would lead us?

I guess our first adventure occurred when we drove 500 miles to rescue a Weimaraner puppy desperate for a new home.  She had been chained under a junk car in a field and was being hit with a broomstick by some local kids.  The Weimaraner rescue people emailed us with a picture and a request for a new home for her......

......how could we say no? And so it began!!

There have been lots of adventures between now and then but we can sum it up briefly for you in this first post by saying we now live on a ten acre farm complete with 6 dogs, 2 cats, 10 Society finches, 10 Lady Gouldian finches, more than 20 heritage breed chickens, 5 Pygora goats, 6 peacocks and a 75 gallon aquarium.   We have taken up making wine at home and have really enjoyed it.  We also like to travel, so in the last two years we have been to the Mediterranean, Canada, and several US cities.  Our most recent new undertaking is learning to knit.  (We have to do something with the fleece from our gorgeous little goats!)

Over the next few months we plan on keeping you posted on the current activities on the farm, but also plan to pass along some of our other adventures over the last two years.

As a way of welcoming those who stop to visit our blog, we would like to give away this ‘Farm’warming gift basket.

The basket contains:
Cake ‘n Cup Kit for “Hot Chocolate” cakes
Homemade Apple Butter
Homemade Pepper Jelly
Home Canned Hot Peppers
“Roasted Pepper Soup” Recipe Plaque
Bamboo Utensils (set of 5)
Gourmet Kitchen Towels (set of 3)
Ghirardelli Dark &Caramel
Ghirardelli “Evening Dream”
{Basket not included}

The contest will end on February 29th.  Anyone may enter regardless of where you live.  In order to be entered for the drawing we simple ask that you leave a comment.

If we have peeked your curiosity enough that you would like to follow us, post a second comment indicating that you will be following us to receive an additional entry for the gift basket.

If you are willing to post something about our giveaway on your own blog and tell us about it in a third comment on our blog, we will place yet a third entry for you in the drawing for the gift basket.

The winner of the gift basket will be announced in a new blog posting on March 1st.

Thanks for your visit,
Bob and Eric

  8. Hi there you two and welcome to Blogland!
Just popped over from Vickis'blog (honest, it wasn't just for the giveaway prize chance, I'm just plain nosey!).

What a collection of animals you have!
Can you please do a bigger pic of the Peacocks, love them! Where I used to live with my partner was a new housing estate and the farmhouse and barn and one field were occupied up until the land was needed for the remaining houses to be built. On this smallholding were horses hens, ducks and 3 peacocks and their ladies. They used to visit us and would go into the greenhouse for a sunbathing session most days or just to get out of the wind.
We never had slugs and snails while they were around. When they finally moved to new homes, we missed them terribly.
Sorry, didn't mean to 'chat' for so long!

As well as the peacocks, could you show bigger picks of all the animals please?

    I'll go now!

    Have a great weekend,

    Sandie xx

  28. Good Morning Bob & Eric ~ Sounds like you have just about every kind of little critter on your farm. I love their names. No doubt there will be so many stories for you to share here in "blogland". Life on a farm is a wonderful adventure. We were not always at our place and a little green in the beginnings - that's why the stories are so darn funny; we are just making memories. I have found bloggers to be educated, supportive, nurturing, adventure-hunting folks. Hands-down, you will love the community. Deb
